The official start of winter on June 1 is now only 10 days away!
Already, winter HF propagation has happened here in Melbourne, with the 49 metre band now open from as early as 0200 for longpath from Europe/ME/Af, and shortpath from the Americas. The 41 mb is open for
the full 24-hrs, with DX signals audible right through our late morning, across noon, and into the afternoon.
Here is a small offering of monitoring on May 19 made in the Silvan Forest with the Sangean ATS808A and a Possum Antenna, from 0030 to 0230 (10.30 am to 12.30 pm). Most of these items have not been heard
at this time period prior to this day!
